Thanks for writing that Tamsin, I was privileged to get to know Jenny and Amanda as Jenny's Macmillan nurse and often visited when Little Box of Crochet was just in the making- boxes all over her gorgeous house/flat- full of trinkets and crochet and homeliness. I used to smile and say 'you do know how successful this is going to be don't you?' and at that time she had so much going I don't think she did. Jenny would be sat winding threads- it was happy time tinged with sadness but what an amazing duo. I remember her moving and going off in Scarlett O'Hara and stayed in touch from a distance, I am so sorry I didn't ever get to visit her again and devastated on learning of her passing but actually sadly not surprised. She tried so hard to carry on. I hope with all of my heart that she is now with Jenny and is at peace x
Thank you for sharing your story Jo. Amanda was à true inspiration and I always remember her saying, if you are not happy change the situation. Ultimately, she chose the way she felt was right to change her situation and find peace, which aside of the shock, showed how much courage and integrity she had.
Absolutely Tamsin. How many can truly say we live our lives with such courageous authenticity? The grief is unimaginable. But the simple act of crocheting such colourful memories literally into the fabric of their lives together something to treasure. Forever.
I love this... you wrote her story so beautifully x
Thank you, I loved writing this.... I think there's a hashtag to use #bemorelikeamanda :-)
