Join me for a day as we follow and feed our hearts with an experience to spark our creativity to do what we love most… (read to the end for the recipe)
Hello All,
My upcoming One Day Retreat FOLLOW YOUR HEART takes place on Saturday Feb 17th and again on Saturday March 16th. It’s an experience to expand the energy of the heart through breath work, yoga poses, diet and creative practices, to inspire you towards what you love most.
What you receive
The day is structured to guide you into relaxation with our morning Slow Hatha Flow Yoga session, with a focus on postures that help to balance your thoughts, words and actions to connect to your heart.
We pause for a delicious two-course vegetarian Ayurvedic lunch and an introduction to how the six tastes of Ayurveda create emotional balance.
Followed by a creative session that combines coaching and writing to encourage passion, spontaneity, and inspiration to discover what you wish to bring more of into your life to follow your heart.
With afternoon Yin Yoga focused on the heart, lungs and digestive system, to leave you feeling open and free in your upper body.
The whole day provides a structure for clarity to discover what your heart truly wishes to follow whether it be a new direction in work or life.
Why the heart?
The heart is the energy centre from which we connect to our creative flow.
When the heart is balanced we, are in the parasympathetic nervous system. We feel a sense of calm, an inner knowing and trust in ourselves. We go with a hunch and take the risk without fear, we follow the energy that excites us, and as we move with the energy of the heart one thing leads to the next with ease, we don’t fight but invite, we don’t push but receive, life becomes fluid and we find we grow out of our problems, to let solutions arrive without seeking or planning.
When the energy of the heart is balanced our blood pressure is regular, our lungs and digestion are strong, our immune system is able to ward off colds, flu and infections, and our hands and feet remain warm as our vitality increases.
If your heart energy is not flowing you may experience shyness, loneliness, sadness, depression, anxiety, resentment or an inability to forgive, with difficulty expressing emotions and finding it hard to feel empathy.
Or, if your heart energy is overactive you may notice you are co-dependent on others for fulfilment, are jealous, have high expectations of others, have harsh judgement of other people, an inability to set boundaries, or tend to people please, needing the acceptance of others.
Our day is a moment to be still, to balance emotions and reconnect, let thoughts be and experience how quickly you can access a new perspective though breath and movement. We are nourished by the nature that surrounding us, delicious Ayurvedic food, and with time to discover how practices for the heart strengthen our sense of self to do what we love most, with a little creative magic along the way!

A recipe for love:
GREEN BEAN & MUSHROOM CURRY
Greens are a source of protein and the astringent and bitter tastes in Ayurveda that help us to feel grounded and mentally spacious, to be open to possibility.
Ingredients
Serves 2
Curry
1 Cup green beans
5 Chestnut mushroom
1/2 small red onion
1/2 Cup Chick peas
1 tsp Fresh ginger
1 clove of Garlic
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp Fenugreek
1 tsp Mustard seeds
200ml Coconut Milk
2 tbsp Ghee or olive oil
To Garnish
Fresh coriander
1 wedge of lime
Salt and pepper
Lemon Jeera Rice
1 Cup of Basmati Rice
1 Lemon zest
1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
PREPARATION
Top and tail beans and cut in half. Slice Mushrooms.
Place ghee, spices, crushed garlic, grated fresh ginger, onion and mushrooms in a pan and heat through until soft and golden in colour with a lid on.
Add 200ml Coconut Milk, green beans and chick peas to simmer for 5 mins and then turn the heat off and leave with a lid on.
Place Rice, lemon zest and cumin seeds in a pan with a little ghee, heat through for a 2 - 3 minutes before adding double the quantity of water. Bring to the boil until the water has evaporated, then turn off the heat and leave lid on for 10 mins for the rice to steam
Serve rice with a spoonful of curry, fresh coriander and mango chutney on to a dish and squeeze a little fresh lime over the curry.
Until Next time,
Much love
