Sometime in January, I was in my pottery listening to an audiobook on how Gandhi inspired change in his life by eating less and chanting. It struck a chord as I realised I’d lost my path a little under the stress of an old French house and its endless problems preventing business as usual.
So at the end of January, I began, following in Gandhi’s footsteps…
I love mornings and wake naturally, rising somewhere between 4h00 - 5h30 and as soon as my eyes open, I make my way downstairs to my favourite chair next to the wood burner, where I sit to practice breath work and then write my morning pages. Whilst I chant, it has never been a consistent part of my practice so I added in a repetition of Om.
Next, I took a radical u-turn on my approach to food by reducing my meals to a daily intermittent fasting routine with 15-17 hours between evening and morning meals, eating only protein and vegetables, as I cut out all sugars, including grains… and the only vice to remain was my cup of Marks and Spencers Gold Blend tea.
I doubt Gandhi would have been impressed with my protein consumption, as I introduced meat, fish and eggs. But despite this discrepancy, the change has offered the solution I sought with a surge of positive energy that has brought clarity and greater intuition.
Within a month I switched from feeling burdened by problems to resolving them. My heightened intuition brought awareness that led to opportunities... from pausing retreats to focusing on coaching and pottery which has led to new connections within my local community.
“If you want a new outcome, you will have to break the habit of being yourself, and reinvent a new self.”
- Dr Joe Dispenza
The physical difference within me is now visible. No longer on standby mode, waiting for ‘when the wall and septic tank will be fixed’ my whole body has softened. The weight I had unconsciously gained has almost gone and my back issues are on the mend. In the end, it took revitalising my daily practice to elevate my energy and rise above the problem.
My insights:
Don’t focus on the problem. Focus on being the most healthy version of yourself. It will lead you forward.
The lighter you are in mind and body the greater your vision will become.
Regular chanting clears and energises the mind
Morning pages help you recognise your state of mind, and discover what thoughts are on repeat to then process and take action.
Less food means the digestive system can function at its optimum to increase energy.
Don’t get hung up on shoulds - if you need a radical change take it.
Stuck and don’t know how to move forward?
I approach coaching through the eyes of whole-centred practices to increase energy and clarity to guide you to intuitive answers and creative flow. Connecting you to what you love in a kind, expansive and inspiring way.

Such a timely reminder for me at a time when I feel life is rushing too fast. Feeling inspired and like Spring is a great time to revisit priorities, slow down, and stop focusing on the problems. Thanks for your words as always Tamsin 💕
Very interesting Tamsin, thanks for sharing. Curious to know if the change involved introducing the animal protein and did this help? Also, hats off for the 4.30am waking! Perhaps an afternoon nap would also be necessary or do you get through the day without?! Xx
